Things to do in Denver with Kids

As I was looking at my Travel Blog, I realized that I had nothing on there about things to do in Denver, Colorado which is where I am from.

My grandparents, mother, and majority of my family still reside in Denver and Carson and I have been there to visit several times, but I have never done touristy things with him. So, on my most recent trip to Denver, I decided to take him to explore the 5280.

Colorado is a state filled with huge mountains, beautiful scenery, adventure and a ton of things for you to do with your family.

Here are a few things that I took Carson to do.

1. Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum at Lowry Air Force Base

If your child is as obsessed with planes as mine is, then this place is perfect for them. The museum features iconic aircraft, space vehicles, artifacts, military uniforms and much more. Visitors can also experience thrilling flight simulators, discover various educational programs and participate in dozens of exciting museum sponsored events.

There’s even a kids zone where your little one can pretend to be a pilot, astronaut, color a picture and more. I didn’t have too much fun there, but Carson and his cousin Jada enjoyed it, so that’s all that matters.

Cost:

Adults: $16.95

Children (4-16): $9.95

Kids under 4: FREE

2. Head to the Mountains to be at one with Nature

There are several places you can go to for this. From Rocky Mountain National Park, to Red Rocks etc. We decided to head to Boulder, CO which is about 45 minutes from Denver to go hiking. We went to Settlers Park and did the Red Rocks Trail which is about 1 mile and easy for kids. There’s also a great view at the top.

If you’re hungry afterwards, head to pearl street to indulge in some great food or to hit one of the cute little shops to buy souvenirs.

3. Downtown Denver Aquarium

In all the years that I have lived in Denver and been home to visit, I have never been to the Aquarium and it was really fun. Some of the exhibits include a 4D Theater, touch and feed sting rays, see a tiger, otter encounter, mermaid show and more. There’s even an underwater restaurant where you can dine with the fishes. Carson even got to play hide and seek with a diver who was releasing some sea horses into the water.
