During our most visit to Disney world, I decided to go full Disney and stay at a Disney Resort. I found a reasonably priced room at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort and Carson loved it.
I chose to pay a little extra and do a Disney Resort for multiple reasons.
First being that they have airport shuttles. Most hotels near Disney don’t have airport shuttles and Ubers/ Taxis range from $40-55 or more ONE WAY!
Second, I didn’t want to have to bring Carson’s car seat. One Disney Shuttles, you don’t have to have your kids in a car seat.
Third, being that the Christmas Party ends at midnight, I wanted to ensure that we would be picked up after the party. Disney Resort shuttles follow the park schedule and come every 20 minutes.
Last, I wanted Carson to have the FULL Disney experience, which he enjoyed.
Disney Magical Express:
Once you book your Disney Resort, you can call to book your Disney Magical Express Airport Pick Up. You will need to provide your airline and flight number so they can schedule your pick up. If booked several weeks in advance and you have luggage that you are checking, you won’t have to wait at baggage claim. Disney will send you personal luggage tags that will allow them to locate your bag and will put it on the motor coach for you. We just brought backpacks and Carson’s stroller, so we did not need this service.
All Star Resort:
One thing I liked about staying at a Disney Resort is that there is so many things to do with kids. If you don’t want to do the parks, you still can get a Disney feel staying at a resort.
Here are a few things that I liked about the Disney All Star Sports Resort:
1. There are several photo opportunities with statues of your favorite Disney Characters around the resort. If your kids are scared of the actual mascots at the park, this is a good alternative.
2. The resort does scheduled activities everyday
3. The service is amazing. The hotel staff are considered Disney Castmates, so they are very friendly and happy.
4. There is a full playground on the resort
5. There are multiple swimming pools
6. There’s an arcade
7. Each of the hotels are decorated like a different sport. We stayed in the tennis hotel
8. Has a direct shuttle to all the Disney Parks. When you stay at a Disney resort you also get access to the Disney Parks for one hour earlier then its opening for the public.
The rooms are quite outdated and small, but we didn’t mind. We were only in the room to shower and sleep. Other then that we were out enjoying the weather. The room comes with a small dinner table, two double beds, a tub/shower, mini fridge, lockbox, iron, the typical things you get in a hotel room. The beds were really, comfortable.
Surprisingly the food at the hotel wasn’t as expensive as I though and was pretty good. No meal is more then $14.00. For Breakfast, Carson had two Mickey Mouse Waffles, some sausage and an Apple Juice for $6.00. My dad had an Omlette, bacon, and drink for $11.00. You can also order your food in advance on the My Disney App on your smart phone.
Disney Magic Band:
This is a new technology used at Disney. It’s a wristband that looks similar to a watch. This band is used to open your Hotel room door, you can load your tickets on there for park entry, your fast pass is linked to there, your professional photos from the park, you can link your credit card to use it for payment so that you don’t have to bring money to the park with you and more. We were provided the bands from the hotel and you can keep them and use them for future Disney visits.
One of the features that I loved most about booking a Disney Resort is that they have a charter buss that takes you directly to the park of your choice. Staying at a Disney resort also allows you to enter the parks during Extra Magic Hours which is an hour before anyone else is able to enter the parks for some extra fun.
To conclude, I would totally stay at another Disney Resort while in Orlando. They are convenient and has fun activities for the entire family.
