Cancun with a Toddler
Instead of parties, I made the decision to travel for Carson’s birthdays. Last year I found a $130 fare and we went to Mexico for his second birthday.
Where to stay: We stayed in the Aloft hotel in the Cancun Hotel Zone. It was right across from the beach, several restaurants, a grocery store etc. I opted out of an all-inclusive because I didn’t like the price, we we’re barely at the hotel, and we were only there for a weekend. There are several other options for lodging based on your wants and needs.
There’s a ton of things to do in Cancun, here are a few recommendations for some day trips: Isla Mujeres (45 min boat ride away) Tulum (appx 2 hours away) Xcaret Park (1 hour away) Day Trip to the Mayan Ruins Xel-Ha park (1.5 hours away)
What to eat: EVERYTHING!!!! Tacos, Guacamole, Margaritas etc I liked the food found from street vendors over restaurants. It was way more authentic.
Money: A lot of places took American dollars/ cards in the hotel zones. If you plan on buying something while out exploring, I recommend having a few Pesos just in case
